The Boise Public Schools Education Foundation is an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that supports Boise School District students, staff, schools, and programs through charitable giving and fundraising.

The Boise Public Schools Education Foundation is an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that supports Boise School District students, staff, schools, and programs through charitable giving and fundraising.

  • The Boise Public Schools Education Foundation is an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that supports Boise School District students, staff, schools, and programs through charitable giving and fundraising.

  • The Foundation provides a secure and compliant way for schools, classrooms, clubs, teams, and programs to receive and manage charitable donations. We process donations, issue donor tax receipts, manage fundraising and grant accounts, pay vendors, process reimbursements, maintain financial records, and help ensure donated funds are used in accordance with donor intent, IRS regulations, and Foundation policies.

  • Using the Foundation allows schools and staff to:

    • Accept tax-deductible donations from individuals and businesses.
    • Provide donors with charitable contribution receipts.
    • Raise funds for classrooms, clubs, teams, and school programs.
    • Ensure donations are properly tracked and safeguarded.
    • Reduce administrative burden on school staff.
    • Maintain compliance with state, federal, district, and nonprofit requirements.
    • Receive support from Foundation staff for fundraising, grants, purchasing, and donor questions.
  • Foundation funds are charitable donations made for a specific educational purpose. Because these funds are held by a 501(c)(3) organization:

    • Funds must be used for the purpose for which they were donated.
    • Funds cannot be redirected for personal use or personal benefit.
    • Conference expenses, certifications, continuing education, and other non-approved expenses may not be allowable.
    • All expenditures require principal approval.
    • Purchases made with Foundation funds belong to the classroom, school, or program—not an individual employee.
    • Donors cannot receive a personal benefit in exchange for their charitable contribution.
  • Before starting a fundraiser, accepting donations, applying for grants, requesting reimbursements, purchasing items with Foundation funds, transferring funds, changing account contacts, or if you have questions regarding allowable uses of funds.

  • Visit the Foundation page on the district website or contact the Foundation office at foundation@boiseschools.org. The Foundation office operates year-round and is available to assist schools, staff, students, donors, and volunteers.
