Summer Programs

Boise School District offers a wide variety of summer school classes for students to enhance their educational experiences.  The District offers remediation assistance for elementary students in math, language and reading.  Contact your elementary school for more information. Secondary students have the opportunity to take core classes for credit.


An Alternative Junior High Program, titled ‘Pathways to Promotion' is designed for Pre 7 – 8th grades.  The location for the 'Pathways to Promotion' program will be at Borah High for Summer 2016. This six-week, half-day long program is designed to assist students who have failed or have done poorly in English and or Math classes. Classes are held June 6-July 15, 2016. Students enrolled in this program must meet the “At- Risk” State qualifications. The Traditional Secondary Summer School offers a variety of classes for students entering grades 7- 12. This program has two 4-week long semesters and students can take up to two classes each semester, one in the AM block (8:00 - 11:45) and one in the PM block (12:15 - 4:00).

The location of the Traditional Secondary Summer School (for Grades 7 - 12th Grade) will be at Borah High School, 6001 W. Cassia St., Boise, 83709. 

The schedule of classes will be as follows:

Traditional Secondary Summer School Classes:

1st Semester: June 6 - July 1 (July 4- Holiday - No School)

2nd Semester: July 5 - July 29, 2016


On EOC/Semester exam days (July 1 and July 29) students will have a half day. Morning session will test from 8:00 a.m. - 9:30 a.m. and afternoon session will test from 9:50 a.m. - 11:20 a.m. 

Free Breakfast and Lunch meals will be provided for all students up to ages 18.

Boise District's Alternative Secondary Summer School is for students in grades 9- 12 who are seeking credit recovery. This program has two- 4 week semesters. The location of the 2016 Alternative Secondary Summer School program will be at South Jr. High, 3101 W. Cassia St., Boise 83705.

 

The schedule of classes for Alternative Secondary Summer School will be as follows:

High School Classes:

1st Semester: June 6 - July 1 (July 4- Holiday - No School)
2nd Semester: July 5 - 29, 2016

Students enrolled in this program must meet the “At- Risk” State qualifications.

 

Each Alternative Program has a specific registration and information packet. Please see your student's counselor more details on registering your student. Free Breakfast and Lunch meals will be provided for all students up to ages 18.

Extended School Year Program (ESY)
June 27 - July 29 (July 4 Holiday - No School) 8:45 - 12:45 daily

The 2016 Summer ESY Program locations include the elementary summer school sites of Grace Jordan, Hawthorn, Horizon, Lowell and Morley Nelson Elementary Schools. At the secondary level, the Secondary ESY Program will be located at South Jr. High.

Student qualification for the Extended School Year Program is determined by the IEP team for each child at their regular school during the regular school year.
